Color Recap

The theme for this past month was colors.  Here is a recap of all the books we read and things we did!

First we got all of our supplies together by following the supply list.

During week one we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle.  We completed a fun sensory art activity this week. We were inspired for this week's activity by the creative minds behind gummylump and mommy and me book club.  (Lesson/Results)

This is what the final product should have looked like.
Remember how I admitted that this was mainly done by me.
Oh well at least she got to experience some new sights and smells.
In week two we read Color Dance by Ann Jonas.  This week we attempted to dance with different colored pieces of clothing which didn't really work out.  So I sat back and thought about my daughter's interests and hid scarves around the playroom for her to find.  Which she FINALLY discovered and we dressed up in and played peek-a-boo with.  Then I had the fun idea of taking all the scarves and building a fort!  (Lesson/Results)

Week three we read Mouse Paint by Ellen Stohl Walsh.  First we painted with mess free fingerpaint in a bag. Next we extended the lesson and put down a roll of paper on top of newspaper and practiced crawling and walking through the fingerpaint.  (Lesson/Results)

Week four we read Freight Train by Donald Crews.  We decorate our "train" aka empty diaper box, practiced putting different colored objects in, and dumping them out.  We also pretended to go on a train ride and my daughter and our dog took turns going for a train ride around the house. (Lesson/Results)

Week five we read was Pete the Cat I love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin and James Dean.  We watched the live telling of the book by the author and illustrator over and over and over again.  We also used do-a-dots to decorate our own white shoes.  Lastly we had fun  jumping on our white shoes.  (Lesson/Results)

Well there you have it!  A whole month of color fun!  We hope you had as much fun as we did this month!  I can't wait to see how next month's theme, FARM goes!
